DO I NEED A PASS? 🤔

Short answer: 

Yes for most Washington State Parks / DNR / WDFW sites. 

No for most Seattle city & county parks.

Passes cover vehicle parking/access—walk-in/drop-off may not need one. Always check the park’s page day-of.

  • No pass needed (easy spots): Lake Union, Green Lake, Magnuson, many Lake Washington beaches (may have city parking).
  • Discover Pass required: WA State Parks, DNR, WDFW lands.
  • National Parks: Entrance fee or America the Beautiful pass.
  • USFS trailheads / mountain lakes: Often need Northwest Forest Pass (or America the Beautiful).
