DO I NEED A PASS? 🤔
Short answer:
Yes for most Washington State Parks / DNR / WDFW sites.
No for most Seattle city & county parks.
Passes cover vehicle parking/access—walk-in/drop-off may not need one. Always check the park’s page day-of.
- No pass needed (easy spots): Lake Union, Green Lake, Magnuson, many Lake Washington beaches (may have city parking).
- Discover Pass required: WA State Parks, DNR, WDFW lands.
- National Parks: Entrance fee or America the Beautiful pass.
- USFS trailheads / mountain lakes: Often need Northwest Forest Pass (or America the Beautiful).
Prices/requirements can change—verify before you go.
