Green Lake Paddle Board Rental FAQ

Is Green Lake good for beginners?
It is probably the best beginner lake in Seattle. Green Lake is small, shallow, and has no gas motors, so the water stays calm and flat. You are never far from shore, which makes a first time on a paddle board much less intimidating.
Are motors allowed on Green Lake?
No gas motors are permitted. That is exactly why the surface stays so calm and why it is such a good place to learn. You will share the water with other paddlers, rowers, and swimmers rather than powerboats.
Where do I park at Green Lake?
The largest lots are at East Green Lake Beach near the community center and on the west side by the Small Craft Center. Both fill up fast on warm weekends, so arriving early or paddling on a weekday evening makes life much easier.
Green Lake or Lake Union, which should I pick?
Green Lake is smaller, calmer, and easier for a first time out. Lake Union is bigger, has the downtown skyline and seaplanes, and more boat traffic. If you are new or bringing kids, start at Green Lake.
How far is Green Lake from your pickup?
About 22 minutes north of our Tukwila pickup. Your board or kayak packs into any trunk, so there is no roof rack to deal with on the drive up.
What comes with the rental?
Everything. Your board or kayak, paddle, USCG life vests, an electric pump, a dry bag, a waterproof phone case, and a Bluetooth speaker. That is about $175 of gear, included free with every rental.
