Can I really take the rental up to a mountain lake?
Yes. That is exactly what it is built for. Every board and kayak is inflatable and packs into any trunk, so there is no roof rack or trailer to deal with. Drive wherever you like and bring it back when your rental days are up.
Which lake is easiest to get to from Seattle?
Lake Wilderness in Maple Valley is about 25 minutes from our Tukwila pickup, with free parking and a short paved walk to the beach. Beaver Lake in Sammamish is about 30 minutes. Rattlesnake Lake in North Bend is about 38 minutes and is the closest one that feels genuinely alpine.
Is Diablo Lake worth the drive?
It is about two and a half hours each way, so it is a full day or better a multi day trip. But the glacial turquoise water against the North Cascades is unlike anything closer to the city. Since a full week is capped at $160, most people who go make it an overnight and paddle a second lake on the way back.
Do I need a Discover Pass?
It depends on the lake. Lake Wilderness, Beaver Lake, Rattlesnake Lake, and Silver Lake are all free. Flowing Lake charges a Snohomish County day use fee. Lake Kachess may need a Northwest Forest Pass or day use fee. North Cascades National Park, where Diablo Lake sits, charges no entrance fee at all. Always check current signage.
Is it worth renting for several days?
That is the best value we offer. Additional days are $50 and a full week is capped at $160, so a multi day trip costs very little more than a single day. Many renters hit three or four lakes on one booking.
What is included with the rental?
